Welcome back!

Filed under: Uncategorized — aprilgold @ 2:04 pm

Welcome back – you are now Year 13! Well done on getting through AS now we need to expand our knowledge and boost our grades!

This year we will be dividing the lessons up differently. You will have 3 lessons a week on a specific topic with one teacher and a single lesson a week focussing on Psychology in general and the bigger picture to build on your AS knowledge and turn you into ‘proper’ Psychologists. This single lesson will build your synoptic skills which are fundamental for you to gain a grade above a D overall in your A level. They will also keep you working on the evaluative and research skills we touched on in Year 12 so will help to boost your marks in any re-sits you do.

I will be talking to each of you individually about your results and what we need to do next for you to achieve the best possible A level grades – this will take me some time so be patient!

The main topics we will cover, in order, are :

  • Criminal Psychology
  • Health Psychology
  • Clinical Psychology

Alongside these we will be broadening your understanding by considering:

  • Methods and ethics
  • Debates
  • Contributions of Psychology to Society
  • Using Psychology to explain Key Issues.

I hope you will enjoy the course and will be able to ‘crank up’ your efforts to meet the new demands of full A level standard.
